’16 & Pregnant’ Prevented 20,000 Teen Pregnancies: New Study

The ’16 & Pregnant’ and ‘Teen Mom’ spinoffs have done more than keep us entertained with constant baby and boyfriend drama: a new study credits the franchise for preventing about 20,000 teen pregnancies because girls gained a new platform to talk about birth control.

MTV’s 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom have come under fire for glamorizing teen pregnancy, but a new study from University of Maryland and Wellesley College found that the shows actually make it easier for teenage girls to educate themselves about birth control and pregnancy prevention. The study discovered that the show even led to a 5.7% reduction in teen births in the 18 months after the premiere of 16 and Pregnant in June 2009.

About 20,000 teen pregnancies were prevented in the 18 months after the show’s initial air, according to statistics released from a Teen Mom study from University of Maryland and Wellesley College.
“This new research shows that, rather than glamorizing teen pregnancy and parenting as some have suggested, 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom are more sobering than salacious,” said Sarah Brown, CEO of The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, in a statement. “One of the nation’s great success stories of the past two decades has been the historic declines in teen pregnancy and childbearing.”

So what’s to thank for the decline in unplanned teen pregnancies? “MTV and other media outlets have undoubtedly increased attention to the risks and reality of teen pregnancy and parenthood and, as this research shows, have likely played an important role in the nation’s remarkable progress,” Brown explained. “Indeed, reality series like these two MTV shows and other constructive programs should be seen as key parts of 21st century sex education.”

O.J. Simpson And Khloe Kardashian: Are They REALLY Father And Daughter?

O J Simpson’s bid for a new trial was dismissed yesterday by a Las Vegas Judge, and so he will now have to complete the rest of his nine-to 33-year sentence for armed robbery, and will not be eligible for parole until he is 70 years old.
That means that Simpson, 66, will have four more years to miss out on seeing his “daughter,” Khloe Kardashian. Simpson fans have been questioning for years whether the rumor that O.J. Simpson is the father of Khloe is actually true.
Now – in a new report – Simpson’s manager, Norman Pardo, has alleged that O.J. IS, indeed, Khloe’s father. Pardo told In Touch that the truth “is going to come out sooner or later.” Cardo says that he believes that Khloe was conceived as a result of an exchange of bodily fluids between Simpson and Khloe’s mother, Kris Jenner, when they were both drunk.
Pardo explains that Simpson, and then wife, Nicole, used to take vacations together with Kris and her husband, Robert Kardashion. “There was a lot of partying going on back then. Kris cheated on Robert. She was known for having a good time.”
Pardo says that he asked Simpson whether the “partying” included sex with Kris, but “Whenever I bring it up, he giggles.”
Kris’ sister, Karen Houghton, said, “Yes, there are rumors that Kris and O.J. had an affair. And there are rumors that O.J. could be Khloe’s father. I know O.J. was trying to contact Kris from jail.”
The allegation appeared to receive support from a former boyfriend of Kris, Cesar Sanudo, who told Star Magazine that he had accused her of cheating with O.J.
Of course, Kris Kardashion hotly denies the claim, saying “This is an absolute lie and not true. I have never had an affair with O.J. Simpson.” Cardo had suggested that if Simpson’s appeal for a new trial was successful, that he would tell more about his relationship with the Kardashians whether Kris agreed or not.
However, in the light of the judge’s latest ruling, maybe those revelations will be delayed. Which is good news for Khloe, who has enough problems handling her marriage to drug-addicted Lamar Odem.
Speaking about Simpson, a source revealed that Khloe “heard her mom talk about how he beat her best friend, Nicole. She thought O.J. was a monster. There are so many emotions and so much pain associated with this man.”
To add to the mystery, Robert Kardashian’s widow, Ellen Kardashian, has alleged that Robert told her he was not Khloe’s real father.
And yet others have suggested that her real father could be Kris Jenner’s former hairdresser, Alex Roldan, because Khloe bears a striking resemblance to him.
It looks like the only way to be sure is to go down the path of DNA testing. Will O.J.Simpson and Klhoe agree to that? We will just have to wait to find out.

Farrah Abraham reportedly inspired another young woman from her Teen Mom season to film a sex tape, a blind item report explained. So if it’s not Farrah herself, then is it Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, or Maci Bookout? Fans responded to the Crazy Days And Nights blind item posting, matching up the reported Dec. 30, 2013 date to Maci’s New Year’s Miami trip, where she was partying it up! Could it be true?

The mom controls the product so it’s up to her what to do with it. He says there is nothing glamorous about the shoot and that if the public is expecting something nice and sweet then this porn is not for them.”

Site users put the clues together and suggested that Maci’s sweet girl image and wild nights in Miami over the New Year match the description perfectly, especially after TMZ reported video of Maci allegedly drunkenly dancing in her hotel room. This doesn’t mean that the blind item claim is true, or prove that Maci is involved in porn at all – but it definitely makes for a scandal!
Maci or the other girls have not commented, confirmed, or denied the report.

Whether or not this particular blind item has any validity to it, Farrah spoke out saying that she regrets her decision to film a porn tape, money or not — and word to the wiser Teen Mom cast is to stay away.
“It made it hard to have friends and a private life and to trust family, who I feel use me for money,” she told In Touch Weekly. “If I went back in time, I would not have done it … the sex tape ruined my life.” We hope the girls consider Farrah’s experience!

Justin spent the weekend in Panama with his rumored new girlfriend Chantel, who wore a barely there bikini. It looked like Selena was the last thing on his mind — do you think these two are serious?

Justin Bieber looked like he was having a great time in Panama, despite the rumored intervention that was supposed to take place. The singer, who was charged with a DUI in Miami just a few days before, went parasailing with Chantel Jeffries, 21, while his mother Pattie Mallette, Usher and Scooter Braun were nearby.

Justin is having quite an adventure in Panama with his rumored new girlfriend Chantel Jeffries. After the two were spotted parasailing together on Jan. 26, Justin was caught on camera riding an ATV and filming an impromptu video on the beach while his model main squeeze looked on adoringly.

Justin Bieber seems to be having the time of his life in Panama, despite the fact that his mother, Pattie Mallette, manager Scooter Braun and close friend Usher travelled there, reportedly to stage an intervention for the troubled young singer. Justin, who was charged with a DUI in Miami on Jan. 23, escaped to Panama with his new fling Chantel Jeffries on Jan. 25, and has been staying at a resort there ever since.

At one point, Justin, who was wearing a pair of baggy black shorts, a tank top and a backwards hat, took off on his quad bike. He pulled over for a group of ecstatic local fans, touching their hands before driving off again, according to SplashNews. In one of the photos, Justin seems to be jumping off the ATV — we hope he landed okay!
All the while, Chantel, 21, was watching from the sidelines in a skimpy bikini bottom and crop top. Things definitely seem to be heating up between Justin and Chantel — but is she really a good match for him?

The group was hoping to get Justin to see the error of his ways, according to TMZ. And while the word intervention has reportedly not been used, the spirit of the meeting is sure to be similar.
